A group of urban kids growing up in the tri-state area of New York City, once known as the concrete jungle. Privileged enough to either be born in the Caribbean, South America, Latin America, or to have parents from one of the islands.

If you have ever lived in New York City, then you’ll be able to relate to what I’m saying here. Especially, if you are from Brooklyn as most of us are. This is where the foundation of H1/2LF BR33D was created. We were thrown into the mix much like our motto goes, “THE MADNESS WAS INHERITED”. New York City is absolutely one of the most diverse places in the entire world and it is a melting pot made up of many nationalities, ethnicities, and cultures. The mixtures of Caribbean people are insane! It’s like one big island, made up of many different islands living and functioning as ONE. Just as a family, we love, we fight,  good times, and bad but at the end of the day, we are blood.

The H1/2LF BR33D tribe was birthed from the cohesiveness of the mixed cultures. We, the younger generation, took the love, respect and friendship to another level. Within team Half Breed there is a mix of American, Guyanese, Jamaican, and Trinidadian with a few H1/2LF BR33DS in between. We grew up together, fought with one another, fought for each other, stayed at each other’s house that we became part of the family. Friendships turned into brotherhood and sisterhood.

We represented our nationalities to the fullest especially on Labor Day, but it always felt like something was missing. When flags were being purchased from vendors on Labor Day, we were confused as to how we should truly represent who we are. We weren’t just American, Guyanese, Jamaican, or Trinidadian. We were made of a mixed breed. Buying two flags were normal for most of us, representing our multiple cultural heritage. In the end, we had to purchase two flags for the parade to represent our multicultural heritage.

We were more than just two flags, we are special, unique, different, wild, brave, strong, exciting, WE ARE H1/2LF BR33D.
